Firefighter Warning Placard Hazard Ratings – NFPA 704
Hazard ratings needed for building signage are visually displayed for each chemical. HMEx uses IFC Appendix F based on guidelines found in NFPA 704, Standard System for Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response to develop health, flammability, and instability hazard ratings and displays them in the NFPA 704 diamond, minimizing the need to review individual safety data sheets for the NFPA 704 ratings.
Screen Chemical Incompatibilities
The methodology developed by FEMA/DOT/EPA allows users to screen the consequences of the inadvertent mixing of two materials. This helps when addressing separation distances and avoiding a catastrophe caused by mixing incompatibles.

ID of HMEx-classified vs. User-classified Chemicals
Inventory statements identify the chemicals classified by HMEx and those classified by the user. Code officials can use this information when deciding which classifications to validate.
